Poland Overhauls Rules for Employing Foreign Nationals: Key Changes from June 1, 2025
Poland is introducing major reforms to its immigration and employment framework for foreign nationals, effective June 1, 2025. These changes are aimed at tightening compliance, improving transparency, and streamlining administrative processes for employers and foreign workers alike.
Key Changes at a Glance:
Labour Market Test Removed
Employers will no longer need to conduct a labour market test before hiring a foreign national. However, authorities will publish a list of “protected” job positions where hiring non-Polish workers will be restricted.
Online-Only Applications
All work permit applications must now be submitted electronically. Paper submissions will no longer be accepted.
Tighter Employer Obligations
Employers must now notify authorities of any changes in employment status promptly and submit signed contracts before employment begins.
Increased Penalties
Fines for illegal employment are rising, putting greater pressure on companies to stay compliant.
These changes are set out in the acts on the labour market and employment services and on the conditions for allowing foreign nationals to work in the territory of the Republic of Poland. Employers hiring international talent in Poland should review their HR processes immediately to ensure compliance and avoid penalties.
